Description
This novel is set in Utah, in the year 1871. Jane Withersteen, a wealthy and contented rancher, befriends Bernie Venters, who happens to be a non-Mormon. This angers several Elders, who pressure her to break with Bernie and decree that she must marry the grim, arrogant Elder Tull.
